The Truth about Paranormal Investigations

Many people have seen the popular television programs where teams of investigators
visit an allegedly haunted location and perform their own research to see
if the claims have validity.

Some of these programs can be a little sensationalistic.  Appleton Paranormal
Investigations doesn't believe in sensationalism.  We believe in truth,
skepticism, and honest investigative techniques.

Statistics tend to show that as many as 80% of reported 'hauntings' or
incidents of paranormal activity can be disproven as natural occurring phenomena,
or misinterpretation of stimuli by the human brain.

Many times, if a person believes a place to be haunted, their brain will purposely seek
out signs of ghosts.  Therefore, every squeak, creak and noise they hear becomes a sign
of a ghost.  They may inadvertently leave their keys on the table instead of
the counter, forgetting they did so, and think that 'something' moved them,
IF they have a preconceived idea that their home is haunted.

What makes us different ...

Appleton Paranormal Investigations begins every case as skeptics.
In my first couple of times investigating or visiting allegedly haunted locations,
I too fell prey to the preconceptions and found myself getting excited over evidence
that, if I saw today, would be easily dismissed.

But by doing so, I was not being honest with myself.
And upon creating A.P.I., I decided that this group was going to be about helping
others, and not simply 'ghost hunting' for thrills.

Serious paranormal investigation takes a healthy dose of skepticism.
When we take your case, we look for the explanations that, perhaps, you may have missed.
We go into any situation first trying to disprove or 'debunk' the claims of strange activity by attempting to recreate them ourselves, or finding natural explanations for them.

Once we have done all we can to try to explain away the reported activity, and we are
still left with unanswered questions, that lack of answers may point to paranormal activity
of some sort.  But we will never do so without first doing our best to find
a logical, natural answer.

Don't get me wrong - we'd be thrilled to find evidence of the paranormal.
But we will not put our reputation or integrity into question just to please
a client or boost our popularity.

We'd rather be honest & truthful than sensational.
