When conducting investigations, A.P.I. Investigators rely
on a variety
of tools to assist us in our research.
In order to honestly determine, to the best of our
abilities, whether or not your claims are based on true paranormal
activities, we must first attempt to ‘de-bunk’ those experiences by
eliminating other possible sources of those claims. Only then, after
we’ve done our best to explain away those activities by normal
occurrences, are we left with what we can’t recreate, and therefore find
unexplainable. It is that evidence which leads us to the only other
option, being that the activity is paranormal in nature.
To assist us in gathering evidence, we use some of the
following equipment:

Video Recording
A.P.I. Investigators
will use various visual recording tools such as hand-held camcorders
and a DVR camera system
to capture events during an investigation.
Types of recorders used
may include
digital, high-8, and mini DV.
All video cameras are equipped
with infrared lighting
which allows the team to record in conditions of little or no light.

Still Photography
During an
investigation, investigators will take photographs of the environment in
order to document any anomalies that may not be visible to the human
eye,
as well as those that are. While this is a useful tool, it can
also be tempting to see
more than is actually there. Many investigators fall prey to
visual objects such
as orbs and distortions. The presence of these, and other,
objects, do not
necessarily prove paranormal activity or a spirit presence. A.P.I.
does not consider
the presence of orbs in photographs, by themselves, a true measure of
paranormal fact.

Audio Recording
A.P.I. utilizes audio
recording in our investigations in order to capture E.V.P.'s, or
Electronic Voice Phenomena. These are voices or sounds which are
not heard by the human ear during an investigation, but only are
discovered when listening to the
recording upon review of the evidence. In the realm of paranormal
investigations,
these are actually quite common and an exciting find for any
investigator. Recorders
that we use are either digital or tape-based.

Electromagnetic
Field Detectors
Electromagnetic fields, or
EMF's, are given off by any electrical devices such as
radios, televisions, microwaves, electrical sockets, etc.. EMF
fields are also potential
evidence of paranormal activity, which is theorized to be made of
energy. By using
EMF detectors, investigators can focus in on areas that may emit higher
than normal
levels of energy, and determine whether or not there are any natural
explanations
for that energy to be present ( such as the above mentioned sources ).
If these sources are not present, that may suggest a paranormal
presence.

Temperature
Measurement
Paranormal investigators
may use some sort of temperature detection equipment.
As paranormal activity is energy-based, theoretically, in order for an
entity to
manifest itself or perform some sort of action, it needs to draw energy.
Energy = Heat, therefore when an entity is present, there may be a
noticeable
change in the ambient temperature around that area. Unexplained
fluctuations in
temperature and 'cold spots' help investigators narrow down potential
paranormal activity.

Dowsing Rods
Sometimes investigators
may use some sort of equipment in an attempt to actually
make contact with any spiritual entities in a location. One such
piece of
equipment that A.P.I. uses is dowsing rods. Dowsing rods have been
used for ages,
most commonly for detecting sources of water, metals, and other objects.
A.P.I. has used dowsing rods as a 'conduit' for answers when trying to
speak to
entities. By asking questions within an area, dowsing rods give
any possible
entities a method of responding by manipulating the rods.
This is different
than using a Ouija board, as any movements are made by the rods.
Ouija boards are not recommended by A.P.I. - nor are any methods which
allow your movements or thoughts to be controlled by paranormal
entities.
